This weekend at the Expo Square Pavilion in Tulsa, 125 of New Mexico’s best Wrestlers were set to compete in the WOW Kickoff Classic.
One wrestler stood out from the pack, 8 year old Stephanie Garza set course for a mission after a big tournament win at the Kickoff.
The Kickoff Classic is the first leg in a three tournament series. Garza has already mentioned she will be returning to Oklahoma City for the US Junior Championships in December on her claim to a Trinity Award.
The Trinity Award is a prestigious title to have, in fact Garza may be on course to be the first female wrestler from New Mexico to accomplish this feat.
Garza has the energy of a freight train when she steps on mat. If you haven’t seen her in action, it's a must see experience. It's quite exquisite, even more so now that the young Lioness is making improvements into a force to be reckoned with on the national scene.
Altogether Team New Mexico had 125 entries, with 17 wrestlers placing. With close tournament wins New Mexico had 4 runner-ups; Anaiah Peralta Lockjaw Wrestling Club, Akeeah Mitchell Cuba Wrestling, True Woods NM Beast, Kadeyn Mcneil Socorro Warriors, Andre Martinez New Mexico Wolfpack.
